Feisty, Free, and Non-Commercial

Progressive Radio Network (PRN) is a provocative new concept in internet radio. Launched in June2006, it is independent, non-commercial, and listener supported. Its growth has not only been phenomenally rapid (from zero to more than one million visitors a month), but also quite startling to those who view the internet as little more than a giant cash register, whose main purpose is to produce as much money as possible in return for as little content as they can get away with providing.

PRN broadcasts in all 50 U.S. states – and internationally to 158 countries – as a free and open forum for thought-provoking news and commentary on public affairs, politics, health, and the environment. It also presents a wide spectrum of music, drama, poetry, and other New Post Respond to Post performance arts too often ignored or suppressed by mainstream media.

PRN takes chances so you can have choices. The voices and ideas it presents are not always welcome on corporate media, and indeed have often been banned from those media. But they represent the cutting edge of the issues that matter most to educated and curious citizens – and are presented by some of the most audacious thinkers, artists, healers, poets, playwrights, statesmen, polemicists, philosophers, investigative reporters and raconteurs in the world.

PRN is a second home (and sometimes the last resort) for provocative voices such as Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, Gary Null, the Dalai Lama, Michio Kaku, Jim Hightower, Michael Toms, Helen Caldicott, Krishnamurti, Earl Caldwell, Ralph Schoenman & Mya Shone (Taking Aim), as well as the weekly radio programs of The Nation Magazine (Radio Nation with Laura Flanders), FAIR (Counterspin), Free Speech Radio News, War News Radio, Workers Independent News, and many more.

One of PRN's most popular broadcasters is Gary Null, a co-founder of the network, whose Monday-through-Friday programs on diet, health, politics and the environment attract an audience of nearly 200,000 listeners a week. Null is a leading authority on anti-aging and a New York Times best-selling author of more than 50 books. His PBS-TV health specials and ABC radio programs have empowered millions and introduced the anti-aging discoveries of Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, and Dr. Dean Ornish to the American public.

Growing from zero to 1 million listeners in less than 2 years

Although PRN has been prominently featured in leading media from coast to coast, our rapid growth has not been a result of advertising or public relations, but the result of word of mouth, as thousands of enthusiastic listeners tell their friends about this "fresh new source of important information." Few if any radio stations can boast such a huge listener increase in so short a time. At more than 1 million verified visitors per month, PRN now ranks as one of the most significant sources of vital – and uncensored – information in the world.
